Usman Khawaja Gets His Chance

Usman Khawaja is Australia's first Muslim Test cricketer and will take the place of Ricky Ponting tomorrow who is out injured. Randwick/Petersham team manager Bill Anderson has seen him develop from a talented 15 year old into the country's brightest batting prospect. The 24 year old will make his Test debut this week against England in front of a big crowd in Sydney and everyone is hoping he will perform a miracle to help Australia save face for our dismal performance against the Poms.

Khawaja's coach at NSW Matthew Mott said "We've thought for a couple of years that Ussie was going to play for Australia - it wasn't a matter of if but when. He's in great form and although it comes through injury, he thoroughly deserves his spot".

NSW team-mate and Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin is also excited to see the Pakistan-born left hander in the Test dressing rooms, he's very popular with the players. His manager said "He's just a likable bloke to have around and he's always got a smile on his face - he'll fit in beautifully in that side". Please don't let him be out for a duck.
