Safiyya Shaikh gets life sentence

A British mother who converted to Islam and plotted to blow up tourists at St Paul’s Cathedral planned to become Britain’s first woman suicide bomber by attacking the London Underground, it can be revealed. Safiyya Shaikh, 36, smiled and raised a single finger to the sky in a gesture adopted by Isis terrorists as she was led away from the Old Bailey to serve a life sentence today. Shaikh, who appeared in court in a black hijab, will serve a minimum of 14 years after an undercover sting operation that showed her carrying out reconnaissance of the cathedral. Comment: So a life sentence in Britain today equals 14 years.
