Black rhino horn removal, South Africa

TOUGH MEDICINE: A female black rhino called Paco is treated with an antidote drug to wake her after she had her horn removed, and a collar placed on her left front leg for tracking purposes. All black rhinos on an unnamed private game reserve near Kruger National Park, Phalabora, South Africa, were dehorned by Dr Jonah Marais (pictured) and his team from Saving the Survivors in a bid to prevent rhino poaching.
