Most dramatic art scam of the 20th Century

Forgers, by nature, prefer anonymity and therefore are rarely remembered. An exception is Han van Meegeren (1889–1947). Van Meegeren's story is absolutely unique and may be justly considered the most dramatic art scam of the twentieth century.

In May 1945, Van Meegeren was arrested, charged with collaborating with the enemy and imprisoned……….

Brittany Higgins isn't the only rape victim in Parliament

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he is "upset" to read reports that a second woman was allegedly raped by the same man accused of sexually assaulting former Liberals staffer Brittany Higgins.

A second woman, who has not been identified, told The Weekend Australian newspaper she was also a former Liberals staffer.

The man was sacked in the days after the incident, and Ms Higgins argued she felt her complaint against him was jeopardising her career in politics.

Yesterday, she announced she had "re-engaged" with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), pressing ahead with a formal complaint and asking them to undertake a "comprehensive" investigation to ensure her alleged perpetrator faced the "the full force of the law."

Uber has lost a Supreme Court case in which it claimed that its drivers were independent contractors rather than workers entitled to a minimum wage and holidays in a significant decision for gig workers.

The company has consistently argued that its drivers are self-employed and enter into individual contracts with customers and that Uber’s role is simply that of a booking agent that takes a 20 per cent cut of the fare.

That argument has been unanimously rejected by the Supreme Court, which concluded that Uber drivers should be classed as workers and be entitled to basic rights such as paid holidays, a minimum wage and protection against discrimination.  Source:  The Times

After days of sustained pressure over how she handled the alleged rape of one of her staff, Defence Minister Linda Reynolds wiped away tears and was unable to answer questions in the Senate.

Defence Minister Linda Reynolds says she is "deeply sorry" for adding to Brittany Higgins's distress.  Ms Higgins had previously said she felt unsupported by her then-boss Ms Reynolds, and criticised Prime Minister Scott Morrison for "victim-blaming".

Allen v. Farrow

Allen v. Farrow, a four-part documentary series goes to air here in Australia next Monday.  At the crux of the series is Dylan Farrow’s consistent and unchanging accusation that Woody, her father, sexually assaulted her in the family attic in 1992 when she was seven years old.

Maybe now we will learn the truth.
