Sydney Muslims told to shun Democracy

There is an organisation that is illegal in much of the Middle East but still operates in more than 40 countries. It's called called Hizb ut-Tahir or HT for short. They say they reject the use of violence to achieve their aims - an Islamic state - and the military destruction of Israel.

The British leaders of this organization were in Sydney on the weekend. Burham Hanif told 500 Muslims who attended their meeting to spurn democracy and western ideas of modern Islam - that democracy is "harem" (forbidden) for Muslims and should be based purely on Islamic law.

"We must adhere to Islam and Islam alone" he said "We should not be conned or succumb to the disingenuous and flawed narrative that the only way to engage politically is through the secular democratic process. It is prohibited and haram."

An Australian HT official Wassim Dourehi told the conference Muslims should not support "any kafir (non-believer) polical party because humans have no right to make laws." Mr Dourehi also urged Muslims to spurn the concept of moderate Islam promoted by governments in the west, including in "this godforsaken country" of Australia.

Well, well Mr Wassim Dourehi, did you pay for these people to come over from the UK to Australia to stir the pot? If the Muslim community in Sydney are the peace-loving people their spokesman Mr Trad tries tells us they are, why do they allow men like this to come here and preach hatred against their adopted country?

I don't know anything about the law but feel strongly that this preaching of hatred should be made illegal. I looked up the word Sedition. It is a term of law which refers to overt conduct, such as speech and organization, that is deemed by the legal authority as tending toward insurrection against the established order. Surely this meeting would qualify?
