Australian non-citizens set for deportation are sent to Christmas Island

Australia is preparing to reopen the North West Point detention centre on Christmas Island to house criminals who cannot be deported amid COVID-19 restrictions. Restrictions placed on air travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic have prevented Australian authorities from deporting a cohort of non-citizens, Australian Border Force (ABF) said.
