China builds fence on Burma border

China claims the fence, complete with barbed wire and security cameras, is designed to prevent the importation of coronavirus. Footage of the new metal barrier on the Chinese bank of a river on the border was posted by a villager in the southwest Chinese province of Yunnan and showed Burmese homes a short distance away dwarfed by the new wall. While media reports in China say the boundary fence has helped prevent illegal crossings and by extension COVID-19 outbreaks, the RFA report said it could also keep Chinese dissidents from fleeing the country.
