Israel has historically paid a
high price for the safe return of its citizens. In 2011, soldier Gilad Shalit
was freed by Hamas in exchange for 1,000 Palestinians held in Israeli jails.
Among them was Yahya Sinwar,
who is now Hamas's leader in Gaza.
