On Saturday, A group of us were on the beautiful, secluded, Collins flat
beach in Manly celebrating a friends birthday when out of the bush came this
little guy on a mission!
Up over the sand he went and we were wondering where he was headed
.....to our surprise he just kept on walking on into the sea and a small group
of us got to witness this amazing creature swim all the way over to the other
side where he climbed up over the rocks and continued his mission - amazing!
Who knew echidnas could swim?!
We feel extremely blessed to have witnessed what I think is very rare -
this is the last thing I thought an echidna would do! Best day ever! Published 22 Nov

Contrary to what many people believe, the Tawny Frogmouth isn't actually
an owl; rather it belongs to the nightjar family of nocturnal birds. Unlike
Owls that catch pretty in their powerful talons, these guys use their large
mouths to catch insects in flight. In urban areas, this can have unfortunate
consequences, when insects (and therefore the Tawny Frogmouths that prey on
them) are attracted to sources of light such as streetlights or car headlights. Published 25 Nov
