The Holy Trinity Church in Marylebone, Westminster, built specifically to celebrate the defeat of Napoleon,
hasn't been used as a place of worship since the 30's, but that didn't stop
artist Paul Fryer from making a religious statement by hanging this terrifying
statue of Satan inside.
The piece, titled
"Lucifer (Morningstar)" is a wax sculpture depicting the devil snared
in a set of power lines. The statue is equal parts grotesque and beautiful,
showing Lucifer as an oily, black creature with immense white wings (created
from real feathers). Even creepier in the fact that it's lit via the church's
stained glass windows, an ironic juxtaposition that won't be lost on many.
why power lines? Anyone know what the artist was thinking on this? Not because I don't like it, just because I am genuinely curious
ReplyDeleteI think, the artist wanted to convey the idea that as long as there is light there will be shadow. The ”power lines” can only stop Lucifer from realizing his plans, but those cannot destroy him. I believe that the power lines reflect the good deeds that keep him prisoner in the canvas of Light, peace and stillness.
DeleteIs that real
DeleteYeah, Bible never stated that Jesus will 'vanished' Lucifer before He came to world for the second time.
Delete“Satan’s spiritual torment, and that of his angels, will continue. After a time period called the Great White Throne Judgment, Satan and his demons will be cast into the lake of fire, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Revelation 20:10; Matthew 25:41).
Deletehe is being snared and entangled, ultimately defeated, by the very quest for power he thought would liberate him
ReplyDeleteAnyone know if this statue is still in the church ?
ReplyDeleteIt is not there anymore.
DeleteLuciferian is an electric chaotic energy... It was written in scripture Lucifer fell from the heavens. The entity draconian Archon Angel/Angle offspring. It is also symbolic of attachments that one is binded in when they fall from grace & desire power. That which presented the illusion of power, freedom & glory was ultimately it's downfall. 2 of the comments above are correct as well.
DeleteIt resembles a parasite vampire with wings. Lord of the Flies.
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm looking for the opening times in December of this year 2022, I didn't find any information about this, thanks.
