Englishman Thomas Austin introduced 24 breeding rabbits on his estate in October 1859 as game for shooting parties. While other settlers praised his efforts at the time, he has borne the brunt of blame for introducing this pest to Australia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin can choose not to hold presidential elections next year because he will “obviously” win re-election, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said late on Sunday.

Father and 5 sons die is house fire

 



Father Wayne Godinet, 34, and his five sons who died in a house fire on Queensland’s Russell Island. The father rushed back inside to try and save them, but he too was consumed by the deadly blaze.  

Police now say the fire is suspicious.
