41 workers freed from collapsed tunnel in India

 



41 construction workers trapped in a collapsed mountain tunnel in northern India for more than two weeks were pulled free yesterday.  A crowd of local residents gathered around the tunnel erupted in joy and set off firecrackers in celebration.

Pneumonia outbreak in China

 



China is seeing a large increase in pneumonia cases, especially among children.

Last week, some Chinese hospitals were "overwhelmed with sick children." This outbreak was said to be mainly in the capital, Beijing, but also in the northeastern Liaoning province and other areas in China.

Jordan is home to 90% Palestinians

 



Most Palestinian ancestors came to Jordan as Palestinian refugees between 1947 and 1967. Today, most Palestinians and their descendants in Joran are fully naturalized, making Jordan the only Arab country to fully integrate the Palestinian refuges of 1948.

Geert Wilders’s far-right, anti-Islam Party for Freedom (PVV) has won most seats in the Dutch parliamentary elections, with 98 percent of votes counted. 

He now moves to form a coalition with at least two other parties to take the majority and appoint a Prime Minister.

US terrorism investigators deployed Wednesday after a car erupted into a fireball at a US-Canada checkpoint, triggering border closures on one of the busiest travel days in the American holiday calendar.

Wayne Irving dies in ambulance at Ipswich hospital

 



Wayne Irving died in the back of an ambulance last night at Ipswich hospital.  He arrived at 9.15pm and wasn’t admitted until 12.15am. 

As he was being transported down the ramp he went into cardiac arrest and died shortly after.
