The Palestinian Authority
is ready to assume responsibilities in the Gaza Strip as part of a
comprehensive political solution for the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza,
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Friday.
He was elected president
in 2005 following the death of Yasser Arafat.
