Britian's NHS contaminated blood coverup

British authorities and the country's public health service knowingly exposed tens of thousands of patients to deadly infections through contaminated blood and blood products, and hid the truth about the disaster for decades.

An estimated 3,000 people in the UK died and many others were left with lifelong illnesses after receiving blood or blood products tainted with HIV or hepatitis in the 1970s to the early 1990s.

The scandal is the deadliest disaster in the history of Britain’s state-run National Health Service since its inception in 1948.

Former judge Brian Langstaff, who chaired the inquiry, slammed successive governments and medical professionals for “a catalogue of failures” and refusal to admit responsibility to save face and expense.

He found that deliberate attempts were made to conceal the scandal, and there was evidence of government officials destroying documents.

“This disaster was not an accident. The infections happened because those in authority — doctors, the blood services and successive governments — did not put patient safety first,” he said.

Yank Tanks - love them or hate them?

Australia is divided on the big Yank Tanks but if Labor attempts to force us to change our love of big 4WDs, it will only backfire IMO.

“I’ve spent time in petrol- and diesel-powered Ram 1500 models, and they were ace at what they are designed to do. And the same for the Toyota Tundra, which I gave a very strong 4.3 out of 5 for its awesome i-Force MAX engine and its ability to tow small planets. But it seems perhaps I’m on an island here, because the backlash in the comments when we write about jumbo utes is immediate.”………….

She spent two years fighting the dangerous driving charges falsely blaming the car’s autopilot feature before entering a guilty plea last month.

The plea comes after a police investigation revealed the autopilot option was switched off just 30 seconds before the incident occurred and the vehicle sped up to 80 kilometres an hour afterwards.
