Supporters of Hamas not welcome here

 




ASIO boss Mike Burgess has clarified his comments about Hamas supporters.  He is now making it clear that Gazans who want a Palestinian state will be allowed into Australia, but if they are supporters of Hamas, they will be rejected.

This comes after Prime Minister Albanese could not answer questions in Parliament about whether an individual who supported Hamas, would pass the character test requirement for an Australian visa.

So, when asked ‘do you support Hamas? ‘

Of course not!   

Shakespeare Hotel in Surry Hills sold

 


Sydney’s famous Shakespeare Hotel in Surry Hills has been sold for the first time in almost fifty years.   The ‘Shakey’ as the inner city icon is known was listed for sale by JLL Hotels & Hospitality Group for the first time in five decades and it now has a buyer.

The proud new owner is Laurence Collins and family who own and operate the leasehold interest of The London Hotel in Balmain.

“This pub is incredibly important to the Surry Hills community,” Mr Collins said as the sale was announced on Monday.

“Everyone has a story about the Shakey, and I just want to carry forward the incredible legacy that Margaret [Hargreaves] has created.

“I am not intending to change the overall fabric of the hotel, as this is what makes it special for everyone who visits.”

Sydney restaurant opens and shuts in 24 hours

 



On Thursday night Club Rose Bay held a grand opening with free pizza and pasta, but by Friday morning, the club was closed.

Receivers were appointed by a secured creditor and as a consequence, they took control of the assets, closed the restaurant and terminated all staff

Former childcare worker Ashley Paul Griffith has confessed to committing 307 sexual offences against children under his care across Brisbane and Italy between 2007 and 2022. 

The AFP believes Griffith – who had the required childcare qualifications – recorded all his alleged offending on phones and cameras at work. 

Videos and photographs allegedly produced by Griffith were first spotted on the dark web by investigators in 2014.

Brittany Higgins's lawyer has told a court Senator Linda Reynolds did not always believe her former staffer had been raped and even attempted to "smear" her to cast doubt on her credibility.

The claims were made by Rachael Young SC in a blistering final submission to the defamation trial between her client and Senator Reynolds.


Bat shaped US B-2 Spirit stealth bombers over Aussie skies

 



A bird of ill omen is in the skies over Australia. Three black, bat-shaped US B-2 Spirit stealth bombers have made a surprise visit Down Under. And they’re here because of rapidly deteriorating relations with China.

The United States air force stealth bombers appeared out of nowhere at Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley in Queensland last month. They’ve since taken to Australian skies in a series of joint exercises.
