Mt Arapiles - Rock Climb

Mt Arapiles is regarded as one of Australia's premier "Rock Climbing" locations. Rising sharply from the Wimmera plains to form part of the Tooan State Park, "The Arapiles" as its commonly known, not only has unique rock climbing faces, but also a variety of beautiful flora & fauna in the Wimmera district. Situated approx 10klm from the small town of Natimuk, the Arapiles immediately engage you as a prehistoric form of metamorphic rock faces as they rise to over 370m (1,210ft) above the skyline. The Aboriginal name for Arapiles is "Djurite".

Southwest  National Park

I started off early in hopes of capturing the sunrise over The Needles in the Southwest National Park. I wasn't disappointed. I had read it was a relatively easy climb to the summit point. I eagerly headed off as it had been on my long list for quite some time. 

I hadn't quite reached the summit when I was rewarded with the most beautiful rays of sunlight. Upon reaching the summit the mist rolled in making visibility low but breathtakingly beautiful.
