Piccaninny
Creek
By Greg Nicholas · · From Pic of the Week
Being based in Warmun on the Great Northern Hwy, East Kimberley,
Purnululu is virtually at our back door. A cruisey 50km drive South on bitumen
to the park turn off, then 53km in 2hours(!) on a rugged track with many creek
crossings, corrugations and loose rocks, eventually lands us at a beautiful,
quiet camping spot. There are southern and northern walks, all different and spectacular in
their own way. My photo is of the southern walk along the dry bed of the Piccaninny
Creek. To think that this was a raging torrent not long ago in the wet season
is awe inspiring. Purnululu is a true wonder of nature and a must do. Get there one day! Published 14 Jun

Maria Island is one of the few places in the world where you can get up
close and personal with the wombats. Such cuddly creatures. Published 13 Jun
