Pear Enough!

By Janice ·  · From Pic of the Week
The Kingparrots arrived early this year. They usually show up a bit closer to Autumn when the acorns are tasty. Must be too hot up in the pines or just need some refreshing fruit! They spend the afternoon making noisy cooling calls then pounce on the pears in the late afternoon. I don't mind, I hate pears and they are beautiful!                               Published 06 Jul 2017.  Walwa VIC 3709

Lyrebird rotary hoeing

By Susie Sarah ·  · From Pic of the Week
At Wonboyn Lake we seem to have loads of lyrebirds about. They have been causing some damage to local gardens and seem to wait until the owners head off for a few days. I have been trying to capture a photo of a male with his glorious long tail for some time and they know I'm out there and race off like road runners.
Mary is away at present visiting family during the school holidays so Mr Fancy tail and his girlfriend moved in to do a little gardening Lyrebird style. With their long-toed feet they have scratched up the lawn and removed some plants. With no one to chase them away they are having a ball.   When in landscaping mode they often hardly notice you are there!                Published 10 Jul 2017.  Wonboyn NSW 2551
