Asked
what her plans were when she left Downing Street last year Theresa May said she
wanted to do a “bit more cooking” and watch more cricket.
However, the former prime
minister has spent a lot more of her time in VIP airport lounges, raking in
more than a million pounds on the international lecture circuit.
Details released in the register of members’ interests reveal that Mrs May is
in demand from big banks and American universities for insights into her time
in power. Since stepping down last year she has agreed to eight speeches around
the world for which she was paid on average more than £100,000 each.
