Plastic bottle globe

Light beams out from a new installed bottle globe inside a shack on an informal settlement in Centurion.  The bottle globe provides daylight from a plastic bottle containing water and bleach that that reflects sunlight.  Scheduled blackouts, known as load-shedding, have burdened Africa’s most industrialized economy for years.  Photograph: AFP/Getty Images
