Hannah Baxter was taking her 3 children to school when her estranged husband ambushed her and jumped into the passenger seat of her car. Her then poured petrol over his family and set them alight. All three children died inside the burning car but the mother manager to get out and screamed "He's poured petrol all over me" but later died in hospital.
The husband and father, Rowan Baxter managed to exit the car but later died of self-inflicted stab wounds at the scene.
So the Apprehensive Violence Order (AVO) against her husband was a complete waste of time and this family, in desperate need of police protection, were ignored.
Detective Mark Thompson has been criticised for comments he made about the car fire investigation.
“Is this an issue of a woman suffering significant domestic violence, and her and her children perishing at the hands of the husband?
“Or is it an instance of a husband being driven too far by issues that he’s suffered by certain circumstances into committing acts of this form?”
He can't be serious. Can he?
