A computer whizkid who was born in London and died from leukaemia
in Italy when he was only 15 is close to becoming a saint.
Carlo Acutis
has been hailed as a future “patron saint of the internet” and will be
beatified in Assisi in October, the last step before sainthood.
The Vatican
said that a miracle attributed to Carlo had been approved by the Medical
Council of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. A Brazilian boy is said
to have been cured of a rare disease in 2013 after prayers were offered to Carlo
asking him to intercede with God.
During his
life Carlo supported bullied classmates and set up a website to document
miracles around the world. He was born in London.
