Google has been accused of
pro-China bias after it blocked an Indian-built programme designed to boycott
Chinese mobile phone apps amid mounting friction between the states.
Remove China Apps had soared in
popularity across India since its release last month, and
was said to have been downloaded five million times amid a surge of anti-China
sentiment and calls to boycott Chinese products following a tense the military
stand-off in the Himalayas.
With a logo that showed a
dragon’s head and two brooms, the app scanned a user’s mobile phone for
applications made in China, and listed them to be deleted. When all
the Chinese apps were removed, the user received a patriotic message: “You are
awesome, no China app found.”
Now Google has intervened…..
