Germany can't send more weapons to Ukraine

Germany’s Defense Minister warned that Germany cannot send more weapons to Ukraine if Berlin wants to maintain its national defense capacity.

“As Defense Minister, I must admit that the withdrawal of the arsenal for external support is reaching its limit,” German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht told a cabinet meeting on August 30. She said that Germany cannot send more weapons to Ukraine, if it wants to maintain its ability to defend itself.

According to Ms Lambrecht, the German armed forces must be capable of ensuring national and regional security and this needs to “continue to be maintained”.
