Social worker Ahmed Dini lives in one of the North Melbourne towers with his flat mate.
"We know there are positive viruses in the community," Mr Dini told 7.30.
"The good thing is a lot of them are actually calling people and telling their mates, 'I tested positive'."
But he didn't anticipate the whole tower would go into lockdown. "We didn't expect that," he said.
