DNA testing used in animal theft


A rural crime detective believes increased capabilities in animal DNA testing are making a significant difference to stock theft investigations in New South Wales. In a recent incident on the Mid North Coast, DNA was used to link an allegedly stolen Angus cow carcass to meat seized from a nearby property. Port Stephens-Hunter police launched an investigation in early May after the cow was allegedly illegally shot at Tea Gardens.
