Royalists and republicans are heading for a new showdown
in France where a pretender to the defunct throne is suing the foundation that
manages his family’s former estate.
Jean d’Orléans, the Count of Paris, 55, is demanding €1
million in damages from the Saint-Louis Foundation and the return of
properties, including the Château d’Amboise, in the Loire Valley, and the Royal
Chapel of Dreux, west of Paris. The foundation has been under the supervision
of the interior ministry since its creation in 1974 by his grandfather, Prince
Henry VI of Orléans.
