More than 1,000 Chinese spies, many posing as researchers and students, have fled the United States following an investigation into industrial and technological espionage, US officials have claimed. The Chinese citizens involved had been posing as researchers while concealing their links to China’s People’s Liberation Army, said John Demers, chief of the US Justice Department’s National Security Division.
