Former foreign minister Julie Bishop has
been appointed by the UN Secretary-General as his special envoy for Myanmar,
amid violence escalating in the country since a violent military coup three
years ago.
She succeeds the former Myanmar envoy, Singapore-born Noeleen Heyzer.
