Jeremy Clarkson finally pays the Piper

Jeremy Clarkson got too big for his boots and joined the 'don't you know who I am?' brigade.

At a hotel in Yorkshire, during a 40 minute rant, Clarkson punched producer Oisin Tymon in the face.

Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond and some of the production team returned to their hotel at 10pm after spending two hours drinking at a hotel.  They were all hungry and Clarkson was furious when the waiter told him that the chef had gone home and there were only cold cuts and soup available.

By the time they arrived back at the hotel, most of the production team had gone to bed, except for Oisin Tymon, who stayed up to meet Clarkson and his colleagues.

During his meltdown and screaming match, Clarkson called the producer a "lazy Irish ****" and threw a punch that split his lip which left blood running down his face.  He was taken to the nearest hospital.

During his rant, Clarkson said he would do everything in his power to make sure he was sacked for allowing the disgusting situation to happen.

Clarkson has now agreed to pay Mr Tymon 100,000 pounds (A$194,000) for damages to settle his racial discrimination and injury claim.

"I would like to say sorry, once again, to Oisin Tymon for the incident and its regrettable aftermath" Clarkson said in a statement.

"I want to reiterate that none of this was in any way his fault.  I would also like to make it clear that the abuse he has suffered since the incident is unwarranted and I am sorry too that he has had to go through that."

Lawyers for Mr Tymon said the matter was settled and he wanted to focus on his work at the BBC.

This man's ugly character was finally exposed to the world and although he has signed a deal with Amazon to start a similar motor show, it's unlikely to attract the huge fan base of the BBC production.
