Last Night at the Proms

The corporation said the two songs would be performed by a “select group of BBC singers” NICKY J SIMS/REDFERNS. The BBC has bowed to political pressure to reinstate a sung performance of Rule, Britannia! and Land of Hope and Glory at the Last Night of the Proms. They had found itself at the centre of a political storm after briefing that it was considering dropping both songs from the event because of their perceived association with colonialism and slavery.
