El Shafee Elsheikh and Alex Kotey trial

Mike Haines, right, tried to contact the men who took his brother, David, hostage to no avail. PA The brother of one of the victims of the Islamic State “Beatles” says he is prepared to give evidence to aid their prosecution in the US. Mike Haines, whose brother David, an aid worker, was executed on camera in September 2014, has given a statement to British police and is ready to travel to the US if he is called on. Key evidence is expected to be called from former hostages that identifies west Londoners El Shafee Elsheikh and Alex Kotey as two of the four members of the Isis execution squad. However, Mr Haines also has information that could prove crucial to the prosecution. Both defendants, who appeared in a US court for the first time on Friday, claim they were responsible only.
