Australia's first bloke goes bush

Four months ago, Tim Mathieson, the Prime Minister's partner, also known as "First Bloke" did what many people would love to do if they had some spare cash - buy a block of land beside a river, deep in the heart of the Aussie bush.

He's been chilling out alone and with some mates on a 1150 square metre block on the banks of the Goulburn River near Jamieson in Victoria.  At the moment there is a caravan on the site but he plans to build a shack, something akin to a man's shed.

Tim Mathieson is the patron of the Australian Men's Shed Association (AMSA).

The concept of the Men's Shed has been ongoing for 15 years and there are now 300 sheds in existence.  They have achieved proven results in bringing communities together to provide men with a place of belonging where they can work on worthwhile community projects and participate in youth mentoring programs.

It's also a great place to get away from the wife.
