Russian convoy crisis

It's hard to know what's going on in Ukraine, everyone is so suspicious of Putin, if he really is doing something worthwhile, nobody believes him.

Yesterday things looked positive as the convoy filled with aid headed for the border but two British reporters tweeted they saw 23 Russian APCs (armoured personnel carriers) separate from the larger Ukrainian-bound convoy and roll across the border into Ukraine under the cover of darkness.

Russian border guards say it's not true and that the APCs operate on the border to protect Russian citizens from hostilities.  But Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for the Ukrainian military said they spotted the Russians cross the border during the night and "appropriate actions were undertaken and part of it no longer exists."

Russia accused them of trying to sabotage the delivery of aid which is a generous gesture of goodwill.  So all Ukraine has to do now is show evidence of the remains of the vehicles which will remove all doubt.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshanko briefed British PM David Cameron and told him a "significant part" of the Russian column had been destroyed.
