IVF couple abort twin boys so they can have a girl

An Australian couple who successfully conceived twin boys on the IVF program, had them aborted because they wanted a girl. They already have three sons and now want a girl after their baby daughter died. This is the kind of case that give pro-life crusaders real ammunition against abortion because it's so morally and ethically wrong.
An independent panel rejected the couple's bid to choose the gender of their child using IVF and they now want that decision overturned. A tribunal will review the case in March and if their request is denied, they will go to America . The woman in her thirties said she loved her sons but would do anything to have a daughter. "After what we have been through, we think we are due for a bit of luck" the man said.

Australian IVF pioneer Professor Gab Kovacs said he could not understand why the couple should be banned from having a girl. "I can't understand how it could possibly hurt anyone" he said. "Why should we make this illegal - who is this going to harm if this couple have their desire fulfilled?"

To the hundreds of desperate women on the IVF program longing for the conception of a child, no matter what sex, this story must turn their stomach. To think that a couple, who have already experienced the death of a baby, could so callously end the life of their two healthy unborn boys is an absolute disgrace.

  1. I am the mum of identical twin boys conceived through IVF and am horrified by this couples actions. Hundreds of couples spend years undertaking countless cycles of IVF just for the opportunity to conceive one child. To have been blessed with twins and then willingly thrown this opportunity away leaves me cold. This action alone ought preclude this couple from ever being allowed to access the (heavily tax payer subsidised) Victorian IVF Scheme again. I can only imagine how other couples currently undergoing IVF and other parents of twins feel learning about this couple's decision.

  2. Thanks for the comment, so glad you were successful, what absolutely joy it must have been to get two lovely boys. I agree with you that the couple should not be allowed any more IVF, they don't deserve it.

That reminds me of our lovely Princess Mary in Denmark having twins yesterday, one of each.
