By the time we came across the drovers and their few hundred head of
cattle we were somewhere between Boulia and Alice Springs. We had lost most of
our water when our main tank was hit by a stone and the heat made you dizzy in
the day then left you to freeze at night. The corrugated road had chattered our
teeth and for hours we saw no one... After two days we had had enough but the
drovers had been on the their trail for three months. They were travelling to
the Northern Territory on horseback guiding cattle.
